Seaton Jurassic Visitor Centre Management Staff

Are you an inspiring individual, capable of taking the visitor experience at an award winning visitor centre to new heights?

Seaton Jurassic is one of the most exciting projects on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.  It aims to engage over 50,000 people every year with the unique marine, coastal and geological heritage of the East Devon coast.  It has a café, shop, a Tourist Information Centre and a highly innovative interpretation centre.

We are seeking four new posts to join our team at Seaton Jurassic: –

  • Visitor Experience Manager: an inspiring manager, you will lead the activities at the centre except the catering functions.  You will have a sense of ambition for the centre as well as a thorough understanding of what makes a successful visitor attraction.
    Part-time (30 hours per week)/Salary circa £24,000pa pro rota
  • Catering Manager: an experienced catering manager with a flair for doing things differently, you will help make the café/restaurant as outstanding as it will be distinctive, with excellent food and a unique atmosphere.
    Part-time (30 hours per week)/Salary circa £24,000pa pro rota
  • Visitor Experience Officer: with a natural ability to understand the needs of customers, you will be responsible for the tourist information centre, the retail area and sale of tickets into the exhibition.
    Full-time/Salary circa £21,000pa
  • Learning & Participation Officer: you will play a key role in delivering events and schools visits at the Centre.  You will have excellent people skills and be able to build a rapport with people of all ages.  You will have a fascination with the natural world and be able to put it across with enthusiasm and eloquence.
    Full-time/Salary circa £21,000pa

The Centre is owned by East Devon District Council and operated by the Devon Wildlife Trust.  Principal funders include East Devon District Council, Devon County Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Coastal Communities Fund.

The posts will be based at Seaton Jurassic in Seaton, East Devon.

Catering staff wanted

We are looking to recruit casual staff for both the Kitchen and Front of House to work in the café and events taking place at the Centre. Seaton Jurassic will be re-opening on Saturday 11 February for the half term school holiday then weekends only until Easter. If you are looking for occasional work, without the commitment of permanent hours, then this could be the perfect role for you.

We are looking for candidates for a range of roles including; Kitchen Assistant, Chef and Front of House staff. We are interested in hearing from candidates with and without experience – more important is your ability to engage and enthuse visitors to the Centre.

In return, we offer great working conditions and competitive hourly rates. Please note that priority will be given to candidates who are available to work during the February half term break (11 to 19 February inclusive). There will also be the opportunity to be considered for Seasonal roles during the busy Summer period.
