Seaton Jurassic Learning and Participation Officer

Salary: £21,500 rising to £22,500 with Duty Manager supplement plus 5% pension

Are you passionate about the natural world and have a desire to share that enthusiasm with others?

Do you want to be part of an organisation that has a positive impact on the local community as well as the natural environment?

We are seeking a creative and inspiring Learning and Participation Officer based at our visitor centre, Seaton Jurassic. You will lead the delivery of events and school visits to the Centre and the surrounding area. You are a dynamic, motivated, people person who shares the values of Devon Wildlife Trust and has experience in organising events and supervising volunteers.

You will be part of a small busy team and comfortable supporting all aspects of running a visitor centre. We have a staff rota system to cover the Centre opening times (7 days a week during peak times) and the postholder will be expected to work weekends. There is also the opportunity to take on more responsibility as a Duty Manager for the Centre, which would attract an additional salary supplement.

Since it was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in April 2016, Seaton Jurassic has engaged over 80,000 people with the unique marine, coastal and geological heritage of the East Devon coast. The Centre includes a café, shop, a tourist information centre and a highly innovative interpretation centre. It has won many accolades and enjoys excellent visitor feedback.

The Centre is owned by East Devon District Council and operated by the Devon Wildlife Trust.  Principal funders include East Devon District Council, Devon County Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Coastal Communities Fund.

Casual catering staff needed for immediate start

Are you looking for a catering opportunity that offers a good work-life balance?

Would you like to work in a newly built visitor centre with a spacious well equipped kitchen and a contemporary café?Seaton Jurassic is a new visitor attraction that engages people with East Devon’s unique geological, coastal and marine heritage.  Alongside a series of hands-on activities, Seaton Jurassic has its very own cafe serving delicious local food.

We are looking for customer friendly people to join our team at Seaton Jurassic: –

  • Chefs/Cooks: you will prepare typical café food such as light meals, sandwiches and soup showcasing your passion and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Full and part time hours available.  Permanent contract preferred but seasonal contracts considered.  Hourly rate according to experience and training.
  • Café Assistant (Front of House): you will be the first point of contact for customers to the café ensuring a warm welcome. You will take orders, prepare and serve Barista style coffee, serve food and clear tables. Full time hours available or if you are looking for occasional work, without the commitment of permanent or full time hours, this could be the perfect role for you.  Hourly rate in line with min/living wage.
