We’ve been showered by good news recently…

Today we discovered that we are finalist in the Visit Devon Tourism Awards in the Sustainable Tourism category. As manager of the centre I’m very proud that we are in the race for a much sought after Gold, Silver or Bronze award in this category, because it fits perfectly with our ethos.

Seaton Jurassic is more than a great family day out, although we certainly are that as was proven by our recent Family Traveller Based UK Family Attraction Runner-Up Award. Our mission is to inspire people to discover and enjoy the natural environment surrounding us. But we have an even larger agenda, we love Seaton and the Jurassic Coast and we want the area to thrive. We believe that nature plays a big part in making this a great destination to visit and we need your help looking after it and telling others about it.

Sustainable Tourism to me means having sustainability at the core of everything we do. From sourcing our products, to educating our suppliers and from carefully planning our resources to the way we look after the building. But it also means thinking about the impact we have on the businesses surrounding us and how we can help them thrive. How we can help people living in the area through offering employment, volunteering and training opportunities.

We recently won the FSB Small Business Friendly award, following our work to support the local business environment.

We’ve been doing all these things long before we opened and are always seeking ways to improve the way we operate. This is a team effort, supported by our staff, volunteers, partners and visitors. This is why I hope we win the Visit Devon Sustainable Tourism award, as it would be a great reward for everyone who has helped us on the way.
